Meet Artist Carol Ratliff
Carol started Ratliff Tile Design in 1986, specializing in hand-painted tiles. Her husband, Farrell, joined the business when he received his CA Contractors License in 1988. (CA564332) Needing to learn more about ceramics, Carol entered Mesa Community College in San Diego to study with Dr. John Conrad. A few dozen ceramic courses later, with an academic class or two thrown in along the way, Carol received her Associate of Arts Degree in Fine Art with honors and several academic scholarship awards. After graduation Carol continued at Mesa College working as the Lab Technician in the Ceramic Department. Instrumental in suggesting the establishment of the ceramic scholarships offered at Mesa, she continues to serve on the Ceramic Scholarship Selection Committee. Her loves in the art - Raku and Smokeware. A constant challenge and full of surprises is how she describes these firings. active member of:
