Raku

Contemporary forms are glazed with popular raku glaze colors using copper, lusters, crackles, horsehair, and slip resist techniques in the firing process

Yes, I said Horsehair !  Carol uses horsehair in a smoking process that leaves random squiggly black carbon markings where the hair was placed on the pot at precisely the right moment.  The trick is to do this quickly without burning any fingers.  ouch!  Let the wind gods be with you.

For other animal lovers - I only use tail hairs from live animals and none are harmed in the process.  I do accept custom orders to fire your horse's hair on a piece.  See samples on Raku

Smokeware

Saggar (meaning clay container) & Pit Fired forms.  Pieces are fired with natural materials marking the pots with fumes from the fire and smoking techniques.

Stoneware
High Fired Functional pottery forms - nothing is nicer than pottery you can use!
